Man airlifted after single vehicle rollover on Leichhardt Highway
A man injured in a single vehicle rollover has been airlifted to hospital by the Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service.
The vehicle was travelling on the Leichhardt Highway between Miles and Wandoan when it crashed and rolled shortly before 2pm today.
CareFlight’s Roma helicopter was tasked to the scene soon after, landing on the highway about 200 metres from the crash.
CareFlight’s Intensive Care Doctor and flight paramedic treated the man for chest and abdominal injuries.
He was flown to Toowoomba Base Hospital in a stable condition.
The Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service began flying in April 2011, to minimise impacts on community medical services in Queensland’s far south west.
The Service donates the aircraft to the community and has airlifted nearly 150 seriously ill or injured residents in that time.
Over the past two years of service, nearly a fifth of all missions are to treat patients seriously injured in local road crashes.
