Man airlifted after serious crash
The Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service helicopter has flown to the scene of a serious single vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway, 70 kilometres east of Roma.
Initial reports suggest the male driver had swerved to avoid hitting a cow before his car collided head-on into a tree.
The man in his 40s suffered suspected multi-trauma injuries and possible leg and arm injuries, but remained conscious.
He was trapped in the vehicle for some time before being freed by rescue crews on the ground.
The Roma-based helicopter was tasked to the scene, 10 kilometres east of the town of Yuleba, at 3.30am.
The patient was airlifted by the Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service helicopter to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
He was in a critical but stable condition.
