Injured motorcyclist airlifted to Roma
A motorcyclist has been airlifted with suspected multi-trauma injuries after a single motor cycle crash in Queensland’s South West this afternoon.
The man, aged in his 50s, came off his motorbike after losing control on Bollon-Dirranbandi Road in Dirranbandi, west of Goondiwindi.
The Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service helicopter was tasked just after 4pm, landing at a nearby airfield in Dirranbandi.
An Intensive Care Flight Paramedic on-board the CareFlight operated service treated the rider before he was airlifted to the Roma helicopter base in a serious but stable condition.
He was then transferred by road ambulance to Roma Hospital.
The Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service has been operating for three years, providing specialist air-medical care to the community in Queensland’s far South West.
More than 150 seriously ill or injured patients have been treated and airlifted during this time.
