Ill tourist airlifted off Fraser Island
A 19-year-old European tourist suffering an illness has been airlifted off Fraser Island by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.
The teenager had been feeling generally unwell for a number of days, but her condition deteriorated this morning.
The Sunshine Coast based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter flew to the ranger’s station at Eurong on the island’s east coast to treat and airlift the young woman.
She was flown to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
One third of all missions RACQ CareFlight Rescue flies are missions requiring swift specialist attention.
