Gladstone man airlifted after trail bike accident

An injured trail bike rider has been airlifted by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter service after a trail bike accident at Rodds Peninsula, located within the Eurimbula National Park.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue Aircrewman John Kennedy said the Gladstone man, aged in his late 20s, was riding with friends along the beach when he fell off his trail bike.

“He sustained a suspected fractured ankle in the accident,” he said.

The Bundaberg RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked on the air-medical retrieval at 10am, landing at the scene within 35 minutes.

The QAS Flight Intensive Care Paramedic on-board CareFlight’s helicopter stabilised the patient before he was flown to Bundaberg Base Hospital.

He travelled in a stable condition.

Bundaberg is one of four RACQ CareFlight Rescue bases servicing Queensland.
