CareFlight urges community to give the ultimate gift on ‘Giving Tuesday’
How often can you say you’ve saved a life?
RACQ CareFlight Rescue supporters have the chance to band together and give that ultimate gift to someone in the community on ‘Giving Tuesday’.
“It could be someone’s father, daughter, grandparent or child that lives, because of your direct donation,” CareFlight Fundraising Manager Leanne Angel said.
‘Giving Tuesday’ is an international event asking people to support their favourite cause or someone who helped them by donating their age in dollars.
“Those donations will go towards one lifesaving flight,” Ms Angel said.
“It’s impossible to put a dollar value on a life, but one rescue mission to help a gravely ill or injured person is $12,500.
“So far we are almost a quarter of the way there, but we need community help to reach that target.”
The call comes after Thursday’s Brisbane storm which saw CareFlight’s hangar, and sadly two rescue helicopters, sustain more than $400,000 in damage.
“We are devastated by the damage and the on-going costs of repair, but just thankful no one was hurt that day,” Ms Angel said.
“It’s vital that we get those choppers back in the air to help those in need.
“We would love to hear from anyone who wants to donate – any extra donations at this time would be gratefully appreciated.”
To donate please go to www.careflight.org.au or phone 1800 630 014 – and please leave your details so that we can thank you personally.
“The life you save could be your own, or someone you love.”
