CareFlight’s Broadway Ball expected to raise more than $150,000
RACQ CareFlight Rescue rolled out the red carpet on Friday night for its annual Sunshine Coast Gala Ball, raising approximately more than $150,000 for the local helicopter rescue service.
The “Broadway, A Night at the Theatre” Ball was the charity’s largest endeavour yet with more than 580 guests attending the show-stopping Broadway bash.
The Twin Waters Resort room – decorated as New York’s Time Square – was filled to capacity with revellers digging deep to raise the incredible figure.
CareFlight Deputy Chairman Don Moffatt said the Gala is one of CareFlight’s biggest annual fundraisers.
“The CareFlight Gala Ball really is the premier social event in the region,” he said.
“The Sunshine Coast community has wholeheartedly embraced the Ball over the past decade and we cannot thank guests enough for their contributions.
“We are thankful to everyone – business owners and householders alike – who contribute to our lifesaving cause.”
Guests dined on a sumptuous three course feast while bidding on auction items such as a five-night trip to New York City, a Royal Enfield Classic 500 motorcycle and trips to Japan, Phuket and Fraser Island.
Approximately $92,000 was raised from auction items alone.
Thanks must go to the local theatre companies Little Seed Theatre Company, USC PAK Performing Arts, XS Entertainment and Gavin Hamburger Productions who entertained the crowd all night with Broadway classics.
Plans are already underway for the 2015 event.
