CareFlight bears welcome new home at Hear and Say Centre
Thirty-eight cute and cuddly RACQ CareFlight Rescue bears will be holding their first house warming party tomorrow, saying goodbye to CareFlight’s hangar and hello to their new home at the local Sunshine Coast Hear & Say Centre.
The local charity, which has helped children who are deaf to hear, listen and speak, has been selected as CareFlight’s Charity of the Month earlier this year.
CareFlight’s own supporters threw their weight and their wallets behind Hear & Say to purchase more than $2,000 worth of CareFlight bears.
On Thursday May 29, CareFlight will donate these cuddly toys to children at Hear & Say on their behalf.
CareFlight’s Charity of the Month initiative was introduced in 2009 and has since helped more than 40 not-for-profits across Australia make a difference to children and their communities.
CareFlight’s North Coast Relationship Manager, Angela Miles, said CareFlight was thrilled to be supporting another charity that shares its passion for helping children.
“One in every 12 RACQ CareFlight Rescue patients is a child under the age of 12,” Ms Miles said.
“Each of those children is given a CareFlight bear to comfort them during what can be a daunting flight on their own, and our crews witness first-hand the big difference this small gesture can make.
“We hope our gift will provide the same level of comfort to the children of Hear & Say and stick by them throughout their journey as they conquer their own challenges.”
Media are invited to attend tomorrow’s special delivery of CareFlight’s signature bears at the Hear & Say Centre in Nambour at 10.30am.
RACQ CareFlight’s North Coast Relationship Manager, Angela Miles and Hear & Say spokesperson, Karen von Homeyer will be available for interview and photo opportunities.
Thirty-eight bears will also be there, happy to have their photos taken.
