Passion for patchwork raises cash for choppers

Almost 300 avid quilters from across the Tweed and northern NSW raised $3,500 for RACQ CareFlight Rescue at the Far North Coast Quilter’s Gathering on September 5th.

The generous ladies presented the CareFlight crew with a cheque on Monday when they visited the rescue service’s Gold Coast base.

The incredible sum was raised from charity raffles on the day.

Crafters from Grafton, Maclean, Nimbin, Brunswick Heads, Ballina and Lismore with a passion for patchwork, sewing, craft and embroidery attended the Gathering to discuss projects, share their works and raise funds for charity.

The Tweed Patchworkers and Banora Crafters Club also presented Amaroo Aged Care with 61 charity quilts darned and donated by different clubs and their members.

Tweed Patchworkers meet on the first Wednesday of the month at Tweed Community Centre from 9:30am – 2pm.

Banora Crafters meet each Monday at the Tweed Community Centre from 9:15am – 12:30pm.
