Midnight rescue for injured fisherman
29 October 2013
Just before midnight last night (Monday) an RACQ CareFlight Rescue Helicopter flew to Fraser Island where a Brisbane man had been injured during a fishing trip.
The Sunshine Coast crew landed at the Orchid Beach airstrip where the helicopter’s flight docotor and flight paramedic stabilised the 54 year old Burpengary man.
Earlier, the man and his mates had been on a fishing trip. They were returning to shore but were hit by a freak wave as they approached the beach at Waddy Point.
The man was thrown across the boat’s centre console causing abdominal injuries.
RACQ CareFlight airlifted him to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
