Man suffers head injuries after fall from Bald Rock
The RACQ CareFlight rescue helicopter was tasked to Bald Rock near the Girraween National Park late Sunday afternoon to airlift a 66 year old man with head injuries sustained in a fall.
RACQ CareFlight Aircrewman Leigh Ainsley said the man had been walking by himself when he fell.
“He’s tried to take shelter from the approaching storm and has somehow fallen. It’s unclear how far he fell,” Leigh said.
“Some passing tourists found the man and called for assistance.
“After negotiating some severe weather, our crew winched a Flight Paramedic down to the patient where he was assessed and then winched back into the aircraft on a stretcher,” he said.
The patient was airlifted to Toowoomba Base Hospital in a stable condition.
