Holiday-maker airlifted from Fraser Island
The Bundaberg region’s newly named emergency helicopter, RACQ CareFlight Rescue, has flown to the aid of a Fraser Island holiday-maker suffering chest pain.
The Brisbane man began developing the pain this morning which escalated throughout the day.
A QAS paramedic and a first responder provided medical assistance to the man before RACQ CareFlight Rescue was tasked to the island.
The helicopter landed at Happy Valley where its intensive care flight paramedic stabilised the man.
He was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
In other circumstances, a helicopter flight over Fraser Island would have been a great birthday present - the man turned 51 today.
