80 year old woman airlfited after head-on crash at Bribie Island

RACQ CareFlight Rescue has landed at the scene of a head-on crash at Bongaree on Bribie Island’s west coast.

The incident occurred around 1pm when a four-wheel-drive and sedan collided along First Avenue.

The RACQ CareFlight helicopter flew to the island, arriving in less than 15 minutes of departing its Sunshine Coast base.

Its flight doctor and intensive care flight paramedic treated an 80 year old woman – a front seat passenger travelling in the sedan – for multi-trauma injuries. She was flown to the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the sedan, a man in his 80s, was taken by road to the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. His injuries and condition are unknown.

Emergency services at the scene worked to free the male driver of the four-wheel-drive from the wreckage, who was later airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital. His injuries and condition are also unknown.
