French tourist winched after falling six metres

A 35 year old French tourist has been winched from the South Western face of Mt Tibrogargan by the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter.

The experienced climber was trekking through thick terrain, often referred to as 'tiger country', when he fell six metres, landing on his head.

The helicopter winched its flight doctor and flight paramedic down to the man who was suffering lacerations to his head and body and a possible head injury.

He was stabilised at the scene and stretcher winched back to the helicopter.

The man was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.
