CareFlight's jet and a fleet of helicopters continue to respond to flood evactuations
Due to the flood crisis throughout south west Qld, CareFlight has relocated three helicopters to Roma to assist in the evacuation and rescue missions.
Over the weekend, CareFlight helicopters based at Roma were tasked on seven missions with floodwaters cutting road access throughout Roma, Mitchell and St George.
CareFlight's Lear 45 Jet has been flying back and forth to Charleville transporting patients, including a 90 year old lady and a 24 year old pregnant woman, to major hospitals.
CareFlight Aircrewman Brian Guthrie said Roma Airport was extremely busy with emergency services resources and personnel pulling together to help residents devastated by floodwaters.
"It is very much a team effort out here at the moment with choppers being tasked one after the other," he said.
"From the air the area is unrecognisable. It is heart-breaking to think that a lot of these residents are experiencing such extreme damage all over again."
