Meet Aircrew Officer, Greig Allan
Describe your role:
I am an Aircrew Officer at Mt Isa on the BK117. I assist the pilot from the front left seat with navigation and mission management. An ACO is also responsible for the managing rear of the aircraft during confined area landings and assisting the QAS Paramedics.
Where did you work before coming to LifeFlight?
I was in the Royal Air Force for 22 years as a Search and Rescue Winchman-Paramedic.
What is the hardest part of your job?
Probably dealing with sick or injured children.
What is the best part of your job?
Helping people in their time of need is very rewarding however, I love flying! My father and both Grandfathers were in the RAF too so I guess it’s in the blood!
What was your first job?
I was a barman.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
The Yellow Sea King helicopters used to land near my house when I was growing up, so I always wanted to be a Winchman. I have been very lucky

I speak Russian, Serbo-Croat, German and Arabic.
