LifeFlight crews and doctors have given a record number of people a second chance, performing more than 5,000 lifesaving missions in the last 12 months, a 24 percent increase.

The end of the financial year marked the charity’s busiest year in its 36-year history, with its doctors, community rescue helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,252 missions.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopters alone – based at Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg and Mount Isa - performed a total of 2065 missions in Queensland and northern New South Wales costing $25.81 million – with no charge to patients.
