It is believed that the Christchurch couple were travelling in a convoy of four other campervans, just north of Morven, when the male driver lost consciousness causing the vehicle to leave the road.
Both the male driver and female passenger suffered multiple injuries as a result of the crash.
LifeFlight’s Roma-based Surat Gas Aero-Medical Service (SGAS) helicopter was tasked to the scene at 12.45pm.
The LifeFlight medical crew were able to stabilise the couple at the scene, before flying them to Roma.
Due to the distance involved, and to minimise travel time, the Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter met the SGAS helicopter at Roma, and the patients were transferred into their care.
The couple were then transported to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
