It is believed that one truck rear ended another at road works on the stretch of highway between Warwick and Stanthorpe, causing the first truck to shunt the car in front of it.
The man in the car sustained lower body injuries and was airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital by the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter in a stable condition.
4 other patients involved in the accident were taken to Warwick and Stanthorpe Hospitals by Queensland Ambulance Services.
2017 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,344 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
