Motocross rider airlifted by RACQ CareFlight

Late this afternoon the Gold Coast crew airlifted a 29 year old Gold Coast motocross rider after he fell from his bike near Boonah.

“Our CareFlight Intensive Care Flight Doctor treated him at the scene.”

The young man has suspected spinal injuries and was airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Yesterday (Sunday) a 55 year old Moreton Bay woman was been critically injured in a single motorcycle accident.

She was travelling along a stretch of road near Conondale, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, when she lost control of the motorbike near a bend.

She veered off the road, hit a guard rail and plunged down a 20-metre embankment.

Earlier Sunday a man in his 20s also received suspected spinal injuries when he lost control of his motorbike on the beach at Noosa North Shore and was subsequently thrown over the handlebars.

One in ten of all missions RACQ CareFlight Rescue flies are to treat and transfer patients injured in motor vehicle crashes.
