The Gold Coast-based helicopter was called in by the New South Wales Water Police around 9am to perform an aerial search near Nine Mile Reef.
The two men were free diving just off the coast when they got into trouble and were drifting for about an hour and a half before they were located.
RACQ CareFlight Rescues Aircrewman, Luke Pagano, said the helicopter crew spotted the two fishermen and directed Water Police to the mens location.
Thankfully, the fishermen were found safe and well, he said.
The Water Police retrieved the men and took them to Tweed Heads. They didnt require any medical treatment, he said.
