Marathon rescue after woman falls seven meteres in bushland

After reaching the woman who had suffered serious injuries in the fall, CareFlight’s doctor and paramedic were then assisted by SES to carry the patient on a stretcher almost five kilometers to the Canungra Showgrounds, where it was possible for the helicopter to land.

Around 4am Sunday, and after 12 hours of walking by the rescue team, the CareFlight helicopter landed at the Canungra showgrounds and airlifted the young lady to the PA Hospital in a stable condition.

RACQ CareFlight Air Crewman Ben Trollope said the 26 year old suffered a broken lower back.

“She fell from a height of around seven meters into the waterfall.

“It was a marathon effort by all the people involved in the rescue.

“The woman is now in a stable condition at the PA Hospital and receiving treatment for her injuries.”
