Man rescued after rock fall

The Gold Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a 60 year old man after his leg became wedged between rocks.
The accident happened at Elabana Falls at approximately 1.30pm this afternoon.
It’s believed the man was walking and slipped between the rocks, suffering a suspected fractured lower leg.
A paramedic on the ground, SES volunteers and park rangers were met by a CareFlight paramedic and doctor along the walking track.
It took the rescue team more than two hours to carry the patient to safety as they battled the rugged terrain.
The 60 year old was airlifted from O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat just before 7.30pm.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
