Man airlifted from Lagoon Pocket motor vehicle accident

This afternoon’s accident occurred on Mary Valley Road at Lagoon Pocket, just south of Gympie, where it is believed a single vehicle left the road and careered into a tree.

A 26-year-old man, the passenger in the car, suffered suspected multiple injuries as a result of the crash.

CareFlight’s Maroochydore-based rescue helicopter was tasked to fly to the scene shortly before 2pm, and met emergency services personnel at the accident site shortly after.

The man was flown to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.

Earlier in the day, the same Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter crew took part in a multi-agency training road traffic crash scenario at Kenilworth, organised by the local Queensland Ambulance Service First Responder Group.

The mock incident involved two vehicles and three patients, and was an important opportunity for the CareFlight crew to hone their skills at an accident scene.
