LifeFlight airlifts two men after multiple incidents

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew today attended two airlifts.

In the first incident a man in his 70s was fixing his roof at a private residence in the Toowoomba region when he fell six metres.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics attended the scene and stabilised the patient before transporting him to a local sports field.

They were met by the LifeFlight helicopter, which had been tasked at 10.25am, and the man was treated by the LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic for arm and rib injuries.

The patient was intubated for the flight and airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

In the second incident, LifeFlight SGAS was tasked to the Somerset region at 12.45pm after a car towing a caravan rolled, injuring a man in his 70s.

Queensland Fire Department (QFD) firefighters closed off the road and the LifeFlight helicopter landed near the incident scene.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics stabilised the patient and transported him to the LifeFlight helicopter where he received further treatment from the LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic for fractured ribs.

He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

Tasked by Queensland Ambulance Service, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
