Holiday-goer winch rescued off Fraser Island

The middle-aged man was holidaying on the island when he suffered a medical incident and needed to be emergency airlifted from the beach.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical crew winched a LifeFlight Critical Care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic onto the beach with a stretcher to administer treatment and stabilise the man.
He was winched back into the chopper before being flown to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
On completion of the mission, the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was immediately retasked to a serious motor vehicle accident on the Bruce Highway.
The 2017-2018 financial year was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,452 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
