Hang glider winched from Numinbah Valley

The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter arrived on scene at approximately 12.40pm to perform a winch rescue of the injured hang glider due to her inaccessible location.

An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Intensive Care Paramedic were lowered down into the bushland where the hang glider crashed with a stretcher to retrieve the patient.

She was treated for suspected spinal and minor head injuries before being airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Coincidentally the Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew had been performing their annual winch training exercises prior to the rescue mission.
After their training exercises were complete the crew were immediately tasked to this winch rescue mission where they put their training to practice.
