The man was found unconscious at the bottom of the gully by his wife after he failed to return to the house.
It is believed he slipped off a cliff which banked the creek, falling approximately three metres into the dry gully below.
Queensland Ambulance Service, Queensland Police Service and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance.
He was transported to a local cricket field by QAS, where he was met by the Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter who continued airlifting him to Brisbane.
He was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
The 2017-2018 financial year was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,452 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
