Driver airlifted after car smashes into tree

The rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene, north of Gympie, shortly before 7pm (Sunday July 7).

*The man, aged in his forties, was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital. 

It was a team effort at the crash site with the aeromedical crew working alongside the Queensland Police Service (QPS), Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Queensland Fire and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES). 

A second person from the car was treated and transported by QAS paramedics. 

No further details are available on this mission. 

This mission is the third motor vehicle accident the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopters have attended since Friday.

Earlier today (Sunday July 7), the Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted a man, with multiple injuries, to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital after he was involved in an multi-vehicle crash.

The aeromedical crew was sent to the scene, south of Bundaberg, shortly before 1:30pm.  

On Friday evening the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted a woman, aged in her forties, after she was injured in a head on collision, south of Bundaberg.  

The crew was sent to the scene, shortly after 7pm.

Due to weather, the aeromedical crew airlifted the woman back to the Sunshine Coast Airport, where they were met by the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS).

QAS then transported the woman, via road, to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
