Choppers fly to two truck crashes in one morning

The Sunshine Coast crew was tasked to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at Toolara State Forest near Tin Can Bay.

A male in his 30s from Maryborough was driving a logging truck through the state forest when he crashed and rolled the vehicle.

The man was ejected from the truck in the incident suffering multi-trauma injuries including suspected spinal and chest injuries.

After being treated by CareFlight’s medical team on scene, the patient was flown to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.

Earlier in the morning, the Bundaberg-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter flew to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on the Mount Perry Highway near Gin Gin where a car collided with a truck.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, suffered some suspected shoulder injuries. The helicopter landed on a stretch of road a few hundred metres from the scene.

It was determined the patient was stable enough to be transported by road ambulance so the CareFlight crew returned to base just after 9am.
