“Being equipped with the most reliable and up-to-date medical kits ensures CareFlight’s crews have the best possible tools to provide critical care to seriously ill or injured patients on a daily basis, regardless of the location,” Mr Solomon said.
Bendigo Bank’s incredible ongoing support through Chopper Awareness Month will see branches across Queensland raise funds for lifesaving medical equipment on board CareFlight helicopters such as cardiac kits, trauma kits and blood transfusion kits.
CareFlight Executive Fundraising Manager Leanne Angel said Chopper Awareness Month officially kicked off today for a month of vital fundraising.
“Every rescue mission costs more than $12,500, so your generous donations will help fund future critical missions across Queensland.”
Since Chopper Awareness Month was first held eight years ago, the annual event has raised more than $200,000 for the community helicopter service.
This year’s event is set to be the biggest yet, with 93 Bendigo Bank branches involved across South East Queensland, South West Queensland, the Wide Bay-Burnett region, Central Queensland, North Queensland and Far North Queensland.
As an added incentive, each branch will compete against each other to win multiple prizes including highest fundraising branch and highest individual fundraiser.
There will be trivia nights, movie nights, golf days, raffle tickets for sale, and donation tins placed at tellers to help raise much-needed funds for the not-for-profit organisation.
In the 2014-2015 financial year, CareFlight flew more than 1,400 missions, providing vital air-medical care to an average of four patients every single day.
“CareFlight relies on the kindness of the community to generate more than a third of its funding,” Ms Angel said.
“With your help CareFlight can save even more lives in the region.”
Visit the Chopper Awareness Month page or drop into your local Bendigo Bank branch this August to make a valuable donation to your local helicopter rescue service.
