Chopper and carols to hit high note at Skilled Park

The chopper landing will couple as a vital fundraising drive for CareFlight, the event’s charity of choice, in the lead-up to the service’s notoriously busy Christmas period.

Families are invited to have their photo taken in front of the chopper with the CareFlight crew and life-sized mascot ‘Chief’ for a gold coin donation.

There will also be a raffle and merchandise, including cuddly CareFlight bears, for sale to support the charity.
RACQ CareFlight’s Karen McIntyre says the chopper will make a spectacular entrance in front of 15,000 guests.

“The whole family will be entertained with free activities including face painting, an animal nursery, sports activities, a miniature train, Japanese dancing and Christmas craft stalls.”

From 6pm, the stars of Movie World’s White Christmas will perform A Very Looney Christmas and families can sing along to all the classic carols.

The man of the moment, Santa Claus, will arrive at 8pm to kick off the fireworks spectacular.

“This is the first time the event has been held at Skilled Park, allowing the carols to increase in size and participation with more than 15,000 people expected to attend this year,” Ms McIntyre said.

“It’s also the first time the CareFlight chopper has ever landed at the stadium.

“This will be one of the biggest and best Christmas Carol events on the Coast, so we encourage all families to bring a picnic blanket and settle in for a night of free family entertainment.

“It’s all for a great cause. The funds raised will ensure RACQ CareFlight’s Rescue helicopters can be on standby 24/7 to help Gold Coaster’s over Christmas,” she said.

A free shuttle bus service to the event will operate from Robina Town Centre from 3:30 – 9pm.
