CareFlight’s Bundaberg rescue helicopter attends two vehicle accidents

Shortly before 1.00pm the Bundaberg crew was tasked to the scene of a vehicle accident approximately 19 kilometres north of Gin Gin, where it’s understood two cars were involved in a head-on collision.

The CareFlight crew stabilised a 65-year-old man suffering shoulder and back injuries at the scene.

He was then airlifted to Bundaberg Base Hospital.

The rescue helicopter was then re-tasked to the scene of a second motor vehicle accident on the Isis Highway, approximately 10 kilometres west of Biggenden.

It’s believed a single car collided with a guard rail resulting in a vehicle fire.

A passing motorist pulled the female driver aged in her late teens from the vehicle before emergency crews arrived.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services officers contained the fire, while the CareFlight clinical team treated the young woman for shock at the scene.

She was then transported to hospital via road ambulance.

The Bundaberg-based crew then completed a third consecutive mission to airlift an elderly patient from Gayndah Hospital to Bundaberg Base Hospital for specialised medical treatment.

He travelled in a stable condition.
