CareFlight saves young and old(er)

At 6.10am this morning, the Maroochydore-based crew was tasked to fly to Warwick, on the Southern Downs, to help treat and transport a newborn infant to Brisbane.
Before heading west, the crew collected a neo-natal team from the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, before collecting the hours-old baby girl at Warwick Hospital. The tiny patient was transported back to the RBH in a stable condition.
Upon completion of their mission, the crew were re-tasked to Coongul Creek, on Fraser Island’s western coast, where a woman in her 60s had succumbed to a medical condition.
The helicopter arrived on-scene mid-afternoon.
The patient was assessed by the CareFlight medical team, before being taken to Nambour General Hospital for observation.
She travelled in a stable condition.
