CareFlight attends three motor vehicle crashes in one day

At around 1pm, the Toowoomba crew was tasked to Jimbour, near Dalby, to airlift a man in his 40s who fell off a motocross bike. He failed to negotiate a creek and hit an embankment suffering chest injuries.

CareFlight’s medical team performed a surgical procedure on-scene before flying the man to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

The service’s Sunshine Coast helicopter was then tasked to Glen Echo Motocross park to airlift a boy who crashed his motorbike into a wire fence, suffering facial injuries.

The young boy was flown to the Sunshine Coast Hospital in stable condition for further treatment.

After completing this mission, the Sunshine Coast crew was then immediately tasked to the Glasshouse Mountains to airlift a patient involved in a motor vehicle roll over.

One in ten of all CareFlight missions is in to provide critical care at the scene of serious motor vehicle accidents.
