The male driver sustained suspected spinal injuries and was trapped in the vehicle for roughly an hour before emergency services were able to free him.
Toowoomba-based CareFlight Pilot Simon Newman commended the actions of ground emergency services crews who secured the area quickly, allowing a safe highway landing.
After he was freed, a Critical Care Doctor and Flight Intensive Care Paramedic on-board the Toowoomba-based helicopter treated the man for serious injuries before flying him to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The patient travelled in a critical but stable condition.
The man is the second motor vehicle accident patient CareFlight has airlifted today.
