CareFlight airlifts man suffering serious injuries following Barkly Highway rollover

It’s understood the vehicle rolled in an area approximately 70 kilometres North West of Mount Isa, causing one passenger to become entrapped inside the vehicle.

Two other occupants managed to free themselves from the damaged car and flag down a passing motorist for assistance.

The Mount Isa-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene of the accident at approximately 12.30pm today.

Once on scene, the Flight Paramedic on board the rescue helicopter assisted Queensland Ambulance Service officers to treat the patients on site.

The paramedics worked to stabilise the seriously injured man inside the vehicle as Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Police Service officers arrived arrived at the scene.

The trapped man was freed from the vehicle by emergency services and airlifted to Mount Isa Hospital on board the CareFlight helicopter.

He travelled in serious but stable condition.

The driver and a second passenger of the vehicle were transferred to Mount Isa Hospital via road ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is unknown.
