CareFlight airlifts man crushed by water tank

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene from the Clive Berghoffer CareFlight Centre in Toowoomba shortly after 9am this morning.

The accident occurred when a large water tank delivered to the property was being unloaded.

The water tank is believed to weigh approximately 300-500 kilograms.

It is understood he was helped free by other workers on the property.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter landed nearby with a CareFlight Critical Care Doctor and QAS flight paramedic who treated and stabilised the patient before airlifting him to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

The South Burnett Shire is one of ten councils the Toowoomba-based crews fly to regularly in the region.

Last year the team treated and transferred 619 patients locally.

That’s nearly half of all the lifesaving missions RACQ CareFlight Rescue flew across Queensland and Northern New South Wales in 12 months.
