CareFlight airlifts injured skydiver

The Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service was tasked to Westmar, 250 kilometres west of Toowoomba, at 9:30 this morning.

The Queensland Ambulance Service treated him at the scene, stabilising his neck.

The Surat service flew the man to the Roma Base Hospital.

He travelled in a stable condition.

It’s the second primary mission the specialist aeromedical team has flown in four days from the Roma base, one of two CareFlight bases in the South West ensuring rapid response critical care in the region.

On Saturday the team treated and transferred a man injured in a single vehicle rollover on the Leichhardt Highway between Miles and Wandoan. (picture link attached)

The Surat Basin Gas Industry Aeromedical Service’s specialist medical teams provide lifesaving care at the most serious accidents and emergencies in Queensland’s far South West.

In three years the Service has treated and transferred more than 150 seriously ill or injured patients, at no cost to the patient.
