CareFlight airlifts injured boy from Gold Coast hinterland

The 11-year-old was climbing up vines between trees when he fell and smacked his head on a large rock.

He suffered a suspected head injury.

The Toowoomba based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to a camping area off Nerang-Murwillumbah Road near the Queensland/New South Wales border shortly after 10.30am.

The helicopter landed in a clearing on top of a hill near where the accident happened.

CareFlight’s medical team assessed and treated the child’s injuries before he was flown to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

He was in a serious but stable condition.
