CareFlight airlifts boy following Fraser Island MVA

It’s understood a family of four from New South Wales was driving along the beach on the Eastern side of the island when the vehicle hit an area of water which caused the utility to become airborne, resulting in a serious accident.

The young man who was travelling in the back seat of the vehicle suffered lower back and seat belt inflicted injuries as a result of the accident.

He was treated on the island by local paramedics before the CareFlight helicopter was called in to assist the boy shortly after 7pm.

He was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital with his mother at his side.

The patient travelled in a stable condition; the three other occupants of the vehicle did not require further medical treatment.
