Back-to-back missions for Sunshine Coast chopper

An elderly woman has been airlifted after she was involved in a collision between a car and a truck on the Bruce Highway, north of Gympie.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue received the call just before 9.30am and met Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics at a Gympie helipad for transfer of the patient.

She was treated for serious injuries at the scene by LifeFlight’s aeromedical crew before being flown to Brisbane.

Crews were tasked with the mission while they were on a Brisbane hospital helipad, following the transfer of a patient in their early 60s who was suffering a serious medical condition.

2017 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,344 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
