The 30 year old had not long commenced his climb up the eastern side of the mountain when he fell, landing at the foot of the steep cliff face.
The helicopter winched its flight doctor and intensive care paramedic down to the man who was suffering abrasions and possible head, spinal and pelvis injuries.
He was stabilised at the scene and stretcher winched back to the helicopter. The man was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
