The Wide Bay-Burnett RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Chopper Appeal is raising much needed funds to upgrade the local Bundaberg-based helicopter to help us better serve the community.
All funds raised through the project will go directly to support the community rescue chopper based in Bundaberg.
LifeFlight's Bundaberg crew performed 262 missions across the Wide Bay-Burnett region in the past year alone; including 120 urgent hospital transfers, 120 responses to the scene of serious incidents and motor vehicle accidents, as well as 22 search and rescue missions.
Operating from the Bundaberg Base since 1998, LifeFlight has been an integral part of the local community. In 2013 when the region faced one of its worst natural disasters LifeFlight answered the call for help, sending four helicopters and two Lear jets to assist hundreds of people displaced by the Bundaberg Floods. LifeFlight's Bundaberg hangar become a critical resource to help those in desperate need by becoming a triage centre for the injured.
To continue to provide the community with the best possible care we urgently need to raise vital funds to upgrade the Bundaberg-based rescue helicopter (download the FACT SHEET here).
Upgrades to the helicopter will include:
- Rotor blade upgrade
- Tail rotor upgrade
- Rescue hoist overhaul
- Night vision technology
- Structural enhancement
- Engineering works
LifeFlight provides a vital lifeline of help to the Wide Bay-Burnett community, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During the Wide Bay-Burnett Chopper Appeal we're asking you to help us help you by making a donation today.
