Man in serious condition as car collides with tree

A man has been airlifted to hospital, after his car collided with a tree, on the Burnett Highway in the South Burnett region, earlier this afternoon.

The man, aged in his late 40s, suffered serious upper limb injuries in the crash.

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted him to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment. 

He travelled in a serious but stable condition. 

2018 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,724 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
