Injured climber winched from Mt Beerwah

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter winched a male in his mid-twenties after he slipped on a slope at Mt Beerwah and suffered lower limb injuries.

The winch extraction of the climber took approximately one hour as rain and cloud conditions reduced visibility in the area.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew was assisted by Queensland Fire and Rescue Services, State Emergency Services and off-duty Search and Rescue Police who helped the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Paramedic stabilise the climber and move him to a more suitable winch location.

The climber was walking with a group of friends on the main walking track when he slipped and fell ten metres on the slippery slope. The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene at approximately 3.50pm this afternoon.

The climber was airlifted by the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
