Woman airlifted after serious MVA at Rainbow Beach

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked just after 7am Saturday morning to a serious motor vehicle accident near Rainbow Beach.

The accident involved a motorbike and a campervan on the intersection of Rainbow Beach Road and Tin Can Bay Road.

The driver of the campervan, a 22-year-old female from Europe suffered extensive trauma to her head and upper body as a result of the accident.

She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane & Women's Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Two other occupants of the van suffered minor injuries at the scene.

The rider of the motorcycle had suffered traumatic injuries and was treated by both QAS and the rescue helicopter's medical team at the scene, but unfortunately he could not be revived.
