Teenager airlifted with suspected spinal injuries
RACQ CareFlight Rescue's Sunshine Coast helicopter crew was tasked to Rainbow Beach late Saturday afternoon with reports that a teenager had suffered injuries near the surf club at Rainbow Beach.
The young woman suffered suspected spinal injuries after diving into the water and hitting her head on a sand bank.
Local lifesavers initially treated the patient whilst waiting for the Queensland Ambulance Service to arrive for further assistance.
After the rescue helicopter's medical team arrived on scene and accessed her, the local girl complained that she was suffering numbing in parts of her body.
She was airlifted to Nambour General Hospital for further treatment.
She travelled in a stable condition.
