RACQ LifeFlight airlifts man dragged from water at Noosa

A 26-year-old man has been airlifted by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue following a near drowning on the Sunshine Coast this afternoon.

The man was pulled from the water unconscious at Noosa Sound after diving from a jetty.

He was suffering respiratory issues and suspected spinal injuries.

Emergency services performed CPR at the scene before he was taken to Noosa’s local hospital by road.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue’s Sunshine Coast-based helicopter was tasked to retrieve the patient at 4.15pm from Noosa Hospital.

LifeFlight’s Critical Care Doctor and QAS Intensive Care Flight Paramedic worked with the hospital’s staff to treat and stabilise the man before airlifting him to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

He travelled in a serious but stable condition.

This is the second near drowning incident RACQ LifeFlight Rescue has been called to on the Sunshine Coast in three weeks.

On September 7, a toddler was flown to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital after nearly drowning in a pool.
