RACQ CareFlight Rescue Attends Impaled Patient

The Bundaberg RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew came to the aid of a 23 year old female who was impaled by a tree branch at Norval Park on the Fraser Coast.

The female patient was adjusting a rope attached to a boat moored on the banks of the Kolan River when she slipped.

The patient was impaled through her lower limb by a branch that was sticking out of the river bank.

The rescue helicopter landed 1 km from the patient and the medical crew walked to the injured patient where they attended to her injuries in assistance with QAS staff.

The ambulance service then transported the patient to the rescue helicopter in a Queensland Ambulance four wheel drive.

The patient was then transported to the Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
